Kalu Diya Pond is the largest of the pond situated in
Mihintale in Sri Lanka which hold a greater historical value. Reflections of
the trees and mountains falls on the water in the pond results blackness in
color so the pond named Kalu Diya Pokuna or black water pond. In ancient time
this pond and land was temple where monks were lived and continued their
religious activities.
There were buildings and seats for mediation in the area.
It’s said to be Kalu Diya Pokuna has a strong energy or universe energy in the
area where villages and visitors have witnessed seeing lights of unidentified
objects. Visitors do meditation around Kalu Diya Pokuna land as they have a progress
in the process.
There is a history story to Kalu Diya Pokuna. Kala Buddhitha
monk preach to universe. Pond is said to be deep 170 feet.
Also Ravana king used this pond to seize people from other
planets after winning wars with them. Also it is said be a tunnel to a temple
in Matale which is also a place to contact with universe. Raja giri lena
mountain was the place where Kala Buddhitha monk stayed and there is special
seat made near the pond aside the forest where kala buddhitha thero preach
deshana.
